Hradek nad Nisou - Vynka. That will be the name of the company operating the factory, which is being built in the industrial zone in Hradek nad Nisou by developer VGP.
According to the Commercial Register, Vynka and VGP are subsidiaries of Belgian owner Burgemeester Etienne Demunterl. The operator will therefore be a company with the same owners as the builder.
Secrets around the name of the factory operator ran from this spring. Because of the surname of VGP’s executive director, Mr. Van Geet, who was once executive director of Ontex, a company based in Belgium, it was rumoured that hygiene aids will be produced here by Ontex. The fact that the investor will be from the same stable as the developer is surprising.
All of the halls that VGP built in the Czech Republic have always been leased. The name of Vynka has already been officially announced to the Hradek nad Nisou authority, as the company invited them to tour the factory which is nearing completion. "We visited the factory and I must say that it is a very large hall. The floors are now being finished and in autumn they want to bring in the production machines, "informed Martin Puta, the Mayor of Hradek nad Nisou.
The company will produce all types of diapers. The brand will most likely be determined by a company which will order their production in Hradek. Gradually, the company intends to employ up to 350 people, so far they hired 12 managers to start the operations in the factory, who are currently being trained in Japan. According to Milan Subrt, the head of the regional Association of Independent Unions, the other employees that will be employed by Vynka into production will not be selected from the unemployed labour, but from other factories in the area.
"They do not want unemployed people from job centres who do not have good work habits. They address people who proved themselves in work on shifts and those can be found mainly in competition, "says Subrt.
The company will not have to pay such new staff much more. Many of them currently commute from Hradek to the Liberec industrial zone and sparing the money for transportation may increase their wages even by 2,000 crowns. The advantage is also saving time. "Hiring workers from other companies is an old and also proven method. The question is how the concerned companies face it. If they replace the lost workforce with agency staff from Poland or Slovakia, this may have an adverse impact on the employment in the Liberec region" said a trade unionist.
The Vynka factory for the production of diapers should be extended three times in the future. These intentions are also agreed in the local master plan. The industrial zone still offers 12 hectares available for other investors, which Hradek nad Nisou is still looking for. "We would welcome a number of smaller firms rather than one large, which would for example produce automotive components," revealed Martin Puta, the Mayor. The city is now even looking for a new street name, which originated at the factory. Vynka, a company based in Belgium, expressed the wish that the street was called Vlamska.
